The Gender Equality Design Labs is a Gates Foundation-funded initiative applying a human-centred approach to test hypotheses and establish ongoing feedback mechanisms with panels of women in priority geographies.
Derz facilitated Design Labs in Kenya with women from priority vulnerability segments identified using Pathways data, working across Nairobi and Murang'a. The labs generated actionable insights grounded in the lived experiences of women in these communities.
How we worked
- Immersion & insight gathering: Deep engagement with women from priority vulnerability segments across Nairobi and Murang'a to understand their experiences, needs, and barriers
- Synthesis: Structured analysis of field data to surface actionable insights and identify patterns across participant groups
- Content development: Translation of insights into design content and recommendations that feed into the broader Gender Equality Design Labs initiative
- Feedback mechanisms: Contribution to establishing ongoing feedback loops with women's panels to ensure insights remain connected to lived experience
